Pony Web

This site was created in a 2010s style specifically for the My Little Pony fandom. I decided to recreate the site from that era for nostalgia's sake and just to let you know that now there's a calm place on the internet where you can come and relive those times when you were younger. Over time, I'll be adding more features, and I hope this place gets noticed by many people.

About MLP

The series starts in the magical land of Equestria, where ponies of different kinds live together. The story begins with Twilight Sparkle, a studious unicorn who lives in a tower and spends most of her time studying books about magic. She is a dedicated student of Princess Celestia, who sends her to the town of Ponyville to learn about the most important magic of all — friendship.

Twilight is serious and focused on her studies, not very good at making friends at first. When she arrives, she meets several other ponies, each with a very different personality:

  • Applejack — honest and hardworking
  • Rainbow Dash — confident and fast
  • Rarity — elegant and creative
  • Fluttershy — gentle and shy
  • Pinkie Pie — cheerful and playful

Together, they discover that they must work as a team when danger threatens Ponyville. The first major challenge involves a powerful pony named Tirek, who comes to steal magic from all ponies. Twilight learns that she isn’t meant to face such threats alone — she needs her new friends. Through these events, Twilight begins to understand what friendship really means. Together, the ponies discover the Elements of Harmony — magical symbols of their strongest qualities — and use them to protect Equestria.

1. Ancient Equestria & the Alicorn Sisters

Long before the series begins, Equestria is ruled by two alicorn sisters:

  • Princess Celestia — raises the sun
  • Princess Luna — raises the moon

Over time, Luna grows resentful because ponies enjoy the day more than the night. Her jealousy transforms her into Nightmare Moon, a dark version of herself who wants eternal night. Celestia is forced to use the Elements of Harmony to banish Nightmare Moon to the moon for 1,000 years. This legend sets the foundation for the entire series.

2. The Beginning — Twilight Sparkle’s Arrival

The story begins with Twilight Sparkle, a unicorn obsessed with knowledge and magic, but uninterested in friendship. Princess Celestia sends her to Ponyville to study friendship, something Twilight believes is a waste of time.

In Ponyville, Twilight meets five ponies who will become her closest friends:

  • Applejack — honesty
  • Rainbow Dash — loyalty
  • Rarity — generosity
  • Fluttershy — kindness
  • Pinkie Pie — laughter

When Nightmare Moon returns, Twilight and her new friends discover they represent the six Elements of Harmony. Together, they defeat Nightmare Moon, restoring her true form — Princess Luna, who returns to rule alongside Celestia. This confirms the show’s core theme: friendship is a real, powerful magic.

3. Early Seasons — Friendship as a Skill

The early seasons focus on:

  • Twilight learning social skills
  • Each pony facing personal flaws
  • Friendship problems being treated as serious challenges

Major events include:

  • Discord, the spirit of chaos, is released and later reformed instead of destroyed
  • The Grand Galloping Gala, showing social class differences
  • The introduction of Zecora, expanding the world beyond Ponyville

4. Cutie Mark Destiny & Growth

The Cutie Mark Crusaders (Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo) search for their talents, representing childhood identity struggles. Eventually, they earn their cutie marks by helping others find purpose — reinforcing the idea that destiny is about growth, not pressure. Meanwhile, Twilight proves herself repeatedly and is rewarded for her understanding of friendship.

5. Twilight Becomes an Alicorn

After completing a powerful spell and solving a major magical crisis, Twilight ascends into an alicorn, gaining wings and becoming a princess. This is a turning point:

  • Twilight struggles with identity
  • She fears losing her friends
  • The show begins focusing on leadership, responsibility, and legacy

She is no longer just a student — she is a ruler in training.

6. Major Villains & Threats

As the world expands, so do the threats:

  • Queen Chrysalis — ruler of the changelings, who feed on love
  • King Sombra — a tyrant who enslaved the Crystal Empire
  • Lord Tirek — steals magic to become godlike
  • Starlight Glimmer — manipulates time and equality through control

Notably, many villains are redeemed, not destroyed. Starlight’s redemption becomes one of the most important arcs in the series.

7. Time Travel & Alternate Timelines

Starlight Glimmer’s actions create multiple dark alternate futures where Equestria is ruined in different ways. Twilight realizes that small acts of friendship in the past shape the entire future. This reinforces the show’s message that personal connections affect history itself.

8. Expansion Beyond Equestria

Later seasons introduce:

  • Other nations and species (griffons, dragons, yaks, hippogriffs, changelings)
  • Political conflicts and cultural misunderstandings
  • The School of Friendship, where Twilight teaches harmony to all species

Friendship becomes an international concept, not just a pony value.

9. The Final Conflict

The final villains — Cozy Glow, Tirek, and Chrysalis — reject friendship entirely and try to control Equestria through fear and power. Unlike earlier villains, they refuse redemption. They are ultimately defeated and imprisoned, showing that friendship is a choice, not something that can be forced.

10. The Ending — Legacy

The series finale jumps into the future:

  • Twilight is now the sole ruler of Equestria
  • Her friends remain connected despite time passing
  • A new generation continues the lessons of friendship

The story ends where it began: with a young student learning that friendship is the strongest magic of all — but now Twilight is the one teaching it.

The overall atmosphere of the fandom at the time mini gif

2010–2012 is often called the “golden age” of the MLP:FiM community — a time when everything felt genuinely alive, creative, and sincere.

The general vibe mini gif

  • A sudden explosion in 2010 after the release of Friendship is Magic
  • The community literally grew out of nowhere — and it felt unreal
  • Mostly teenagers and young adults: internet geeks, artists, animators, programmers
  • It started ironically, but became sincere — people came “for the meme” and stayed for the characters, music, and friendships
  • Hasbro definitely did not expect this kind of reaction
  • A very strong feeling of: “we are creating this ourselves”

Where the community lived mini gif

  • 4chan — pure chaos, memes, absurd humor. This is where the initial explosion started — and we all know how that turned out.
  • Tumblr — fanart, headcanons, gifs, aesthetics. One of the more harmless platforms at the time.
  • DeviantArt — the main fanart gallery that still exists today. Honestly, there is more MLP art there than on Pinterest.
  • YouTube — PMVs, parodies, fan animations. This is where the fandom truly grew. There was everything: dark animations like “Cupcakes” or “Smile”, and also wholesome PMVs that were comforting to watch. Everything was freely accessible. Sometimes it was even possible to confuse an official episode with a famous fan animation like PONY.MOV. Many kids didn’t notice the difference — they just watched and didn’t fully understand what was happening. Maybe you were lucky if you avoided those videos. Personally, I found it strangely fascinating, and I don’t regret seeing them. Around 2011–2012, PMVs became more popular — and that’s where the era of edits truly began. The term AMV actually evolved from PMV and is still used today.
  • EqD (Equestria Daily) — the main news hub
  • Ponibooru / Derpibooru — massive image archives
  • Forums (Ponychan, later Reddit). Sadly, Ponychan was shut down, and almost no information about it survived — just like many other MLP forums.

Content that dominated mini gif

Art

  • Massive amounts of fanart — often simple, but full of soul
  • Lots of experimentation: anime, chibi, realism, pixel art
  • Artists were actually known by their usernames — a legendary time

Music

  • Eurobeat
  • Chiptune
  • Dubstep (a LOT of it)
  • Acoustic and sad songs
  • Music was shared for free through YouTube and Bandcamp

Memes & internal mythology

  • Derpy / Ditzy Doo — the symbol of the entire community
  • “20% cooler”, “yay”, “brohoof” — absolute classics
  • Memes were local — you had to know them

Why this period feels so nostalgic mini gif

Because it was a moment when:

  • the internet wasn’t polished yet
  • fandoms were chaotic and alive
  • nobody cared about algorithms, reach, or branding
  • everything was created simply because people wanted to

Many of us were children back then (of course, there were adult bronies too — that’s part of the story). We saw the world differently: brighter, more naive, kinder. Everyone dreamed of owning a toy of their favorite pony or an Equestria Girls doll. We wanted to watch cartoons all day and endlessly scroll YouTube, replaying the same videos hundreds of times. I understand that slightly anxious feeling of nostalgia that never fully goes away. That’s why I created this site — so you don’t have to search the entire internet for scattered memories of My Little Pony and that specific feeling. You can just come here.
